Our Market

The total student accommodation market is worth some £4.6 billion per year in the UK. There are four key factors driving long term, continued growth in the number of students studying in the UK:

  1. Demographics - more student aged young people, achieving better A Level grades who want to go to university as the next step after school or college.
  2. Government policy - At the top of the political agenda, Government continues to encourage and fund more students to go to university.
  3. International students - the UK is still seen as one of the most desirable destinations for overseas students.
  4. Post graduate students - a 50% increase in the last 10 years. Post-graduates know the value of their university experience in the UK.

All these factors mean that there are more students than ever before wanting to study at UK universities. And they have to have somewhere to live. The UK student accommodation market is fragmented, students can choose to live at home, to live in the private rented sector, to live on campus in university accommodation or to live in student accommodation provided by specialists like UNITE.
